Healthy people have healthy habits.  They may have deliberately picked up these habits to be healthy or they may have just always been lucky enough to have these healthy habits.  If you want to be healthy then you could make great strides in this regard if you pick up these everyday habits.

Floss

Flossing seems small but it’s not.  It’s about having healthy teeth and a healthy mouth.  If you want to be healthy then you do the small things every day.  Like flossing.

Exercise

Of course, healthy people exercise every day.  Not every day is a high intensity workout routine but every day does include some sort of nonstop walking or other exercise.  Again, it’s all about the small consistent efforts.

Drink Water

Healthy people drink water every day.  Not just liquids but pure water.  Sufficient hydration helps so many systems in your body that it would be hard to list them all but you will be able to figure out the list yourself if you ever drink less than you need.

Eat Regular Healthy Meals

Healthy people eat regular healthy meals, starting with breakfast.  Eating healthy foods, meaning whole unprocessed foods, every few hours helps to give your body the energy it needs as it needs it without weighing the body down.

Sleep

Sleep is essential to optimum functioning.  It gives you energy, lowers your stress level, and helps to maintain your overall health.

Breathe Deeply

Oxygen is necessary to maintain your health as well.  You may think that everyone gets all the oxygen they need just because they keep breathing but this is not true.  Many people take short, shallow breaths and do not get the oxygen that their body needs to function at its best.  This could leave you feeling tired and your body vulnerable to illness.  Healthy people breathe deeply.

Be Social

People are social creatures.  Healthy people have close relationships that help to maintain their mental health.  Because mental health and physical health are so closely intertwined healthy people maintain close relationships and talk to these people on a daily basis.  They get a lot of hugs for physical closeness too.

Relax

Healthy people know how to relax.  They take the challenges of life in stride.  Too much stress makes you vulnerable to illness so healthy people know how to cope with challenges and how to stay relaxed on a daily basis, even when they do get stressed.

Have Goals

Healthy people have goals.  Having a sense of purpose in life provides motivation and support a positive mental outlook.  To reach your goals you have to work for them and take care of yourself so you can keep working toward them.  That’s what healthy people do.

Laugh

Laughter is the best medicine.  Everyone knows that.  It is great for preventative medicine too which is why healthy people do it a lot.

If you want to be healthy then you need to have healthy habits.  These 10 healthy habits can be practiced on a daily basis to make anyone healthier or to keep them healthy.  Healthy isn’t just what you are.  It’s what you do.
